How to Make Cold Porcelain Decorations

HOW TO MAKE COLD PORCELAIN
INGREDIENTS
Materials You Will Need
1 Cup of Corn Starch/Corn Flour
1 Cup of White PVA Craft Glue
1 Tablespoon of Baby Oil
Microwavable Bowl
Mixing stick
Craft Paint (Optional)
METHOD:
Step by Step Instructions
1. In the bowl add the cup of cornflour and pour in the white PVA craft glue and mix thoroughly to combine

2. Heat the mixture in the microwave on 40 second intervals stirring thoroughly between heating.

Tip: Corn starch will sudden go very thick so watch carefully after the first 40 second burst.

After the 3rd go in the microwave you should start to notice the consistency becoming like cottage cheese and thickening.

Continue to stir well and keep putting the mixture back into heat for 30 second intervals.

3. When the mixture reaches play dough consistency and is not sticky you can begin to knead the dough.

4. Once thoroughly knead add oil a drop at a time until you can pull the mixture leaving a smooth peak.

5. If you would like your dough to be opaque white (or another colour) you can add a coin sized dollop of white craft paint to the mixture and knead well to combine.

6. Place the dough in plastic and leave over night in a cool but not not cold place.

You can use your dough in a similar way to playdough and leave the pieces to air dry for 48 hours.

7. For added protection finish the pieces with a matte or gloss varnish to taste.
